1st XI - Richmondshire (14 pts) drew with Stokesley (5 pts)
Richmondshire 184ao (41 overs), Stokesley 96-5 (34).
Report from our correspondent Jim While:
The first XI picked up 14 points from a weather affected match against Stokesley. The start was delayed due to a wet outfield, so when the match began, with Richmondshire batting, it was 41 overs a side. A stoppage for hail with the score on 64 for 2 resulted in another 7 overs being taken from the match. We were all out for 184 in the last over of the innings, nine batters made double figures with Mike Layfield’s 33 being the top score. That meant that at the break between innings, Stokesley had gained five bowling points and Richmondshire four batting points. Stokesley’s batting lineup was missing James Weighell who was away with the Durham squad and they clearly didn’t fancy themselves at chasing the runs down. With 34 overs to bat, they finished on 96 for 5, scoring “null points” for their batting efforts, whilst Richmondshire secured 8 points for a winning draw and 2 bowling points. Stars in the field were our two spinners, Craig Marshall took 2-15 from 11 overs and two outfield catches, whilst Toby Bulcock took 2 for 20 and a diving catch, the landing from which would have registered on the Richter scale.
