The Cricket Society at Richmond Cricket Club

Friday 2 October, 7PM: Sid Fielden "T.I.C."

With Richmondshire 1st XI crowning the season with a third NYSD ECB Premiership title in four years, the cricketing focus switches indoors as Richmondshire Cricket Club and The Cricket Society is proud to present a full winter program beginning next Friday, 2 October as Sid Fielden presents a talk enigmatically titled "T.I.C".

You'll not want to miss Sid's talk as he regales us of tales from his days with Yorkshire Police and his time on Yorkshire CCC's committee, rubbing shoulders with legends such at Fred Truman, Ray Illingworth and Brian Close.

The full winter program is:

  • Friday 2 October: Sid Fielden, "T.I.C"
  • Wednesday 4 November: Scott Reeves, "Champion Band - First English Tour, 1859"
  • Friday 4 December: Stephen Chalke, "Summer's Crown - the Story of Cricket's County Championship"
  • Friday 8 January: Duncan Stephen, "South Northumberland 150 not out 1864-2014"
  • February, March and April TBC

Last year's talks and presentations were very enjoyable, and we're looking forward to brightening up the dark days of winter with tales from our wonderful summer sport.

Premier League Title Race

NYSD Premiership 2015

UPDATE (19/09)

Richmondshire lie top of the Premier League table, 18 points clear of Great Ayton. 8 points mathematically guarantee victory, or less may do if Great Ayton don't take the maximum 25 points for a win. Today's game starts at 12.30, and is against Stokesley, who are a strong side so it should be a good game to watch.

We received the following good luck message from Mark Hillary of SG Petch

Good look tomorrow guys, I'm thinking about the game but I'm on holiday in Lake Garda. Fingers crossed from Italy.

Frankly I can't understand why he'd want to be sweating in that heat rather than watching our lads win the trophy.

The NYSD trophy helicopter will be hovering half way between Great Ayton and Richmond as I type.

Richmondshire (367pts) top by 23 points with three games to go

With Great Ayton (344pts) and Barnard Castle (339pts) snapping at their heels, we head into the last three games of the NYSD Premiership 2015 season.

Whichever team you support ("Come on the Dalesmen!") get down to watch as we reach the climax of one of the closest fought premiership in recent years.

The top three teams close out their season with the following fixtures, all beginning at 12:30pm.

Saturday 5 September
Richmondshire CC 1st XI vs Normanby Hall CC 1st XI, Hurgill Road, Richmond
Great Ayton CC 1st XI vs Norton CC 1st XI: Leven Park, Great Ayton
Barnard Castle CC 1st XI vs Hartlepool CC 1st XI: Vere Road Ground, Barnard Castle

Saturday 12 September
Hartlepool CC 1st XI vs Richmondshire CC 1st XI, Park Drive, Hartlepool
Great Ayton CC 1st XI vs Marske CC 1st XI: Leven Park, Great Ayton
Stokesley CC 1st XI vs Barnard Castle CC 1st XI vs Hartlepool 1st XI: Broughton Road, Stokesley

Saturday 19 September
Richmondshire CC 1st XI vs Stokesley CC 1st XI, Hurgill Road, Richmond

The match is a Twenty20 between two high quality sides, and Richmondshire's Under 17s play an attacking brand of cricket, so it promises to be well worth a watch.

Hayley McKay Singer, Songwriter & Acoustic Guitar

2014 has been a great year-having performed at Glastonbury four times, including opening up the Toad Hall Stage performing my own material. I have been invited to perform again in 2015. In 2014 my highlights also include performing at The Hammersmith apollo and getting scouted for the Voice, reaching the final 200 out of 40,000 applicants. I also sang on the soundtrack for the film Harrigan, starring Steven Tompkinson.

Some of my achievements up to date include performing solo at Newcastle City Hall, at the event Sunday for Sammy, where I was amongst some fantastic performers such as Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Tim Healy and Lindisfarne. I have supported various artists at the 02 Carling Academy (Newcastle), and I have also supported artists including Lauren Pritchard (signed to Island Records), Hazel O Connor, Visage, and blues legend Skip “Little Axe” McDonald.

I have always had a passion for musical theatre, and have performed across the country in many musicals and opera’s, including Her Majesty’s Theatre, starring as a young Marylin Monroe. This was one of my first performing experiences, at the age of 9yrs. I attended stagecoach and theatre train for many years into my late teens.

I won a Talent competition in 2011 out of over 1000 people Nationwide, which funded me to study for a year at the prestigious Brighton Institute of Modern Music, BIMM. http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/news/north-east-news/2011/06/19/song-based-on-great-grandmother-s-poem-wins-contest-for-north-girl-79310-28901515/

In 2013, I studied at The British Academy of new Music, Access to Music London.
I am also part of an electronic duo, Silent Houses . Please do check us out also. http://www.facebook.com/silenthouses
