During the season
During the season, training for juniors is held at Richmondshire Cricket Club, Hurgill Road.
- Primary school aged children: Fridays, 6:00pm-7:30pm
- Secondary school aged children: Mondays, 6:30pm-8pm
If training is moved/cancelled, this information will be given as soon as available on the junior blog.
The club always welcomes new juniors of any standard for training, so it doesn't matter if you're an experienced cricketer or just fancy trying the game out. Training is available for all ages, from school years 3-11 inclusive, on Mondays or Fridays. Training is led by ECB qualified coaches and assisted by capable helpers.
The blog is maintained by the junior chairman, Jim While, and contributed to by team managers. It contains information, team selections, and match reports.
The address of the blog is http://richmondshireccjuniors.blogspot.co.uk/.
As well as training, the club runs several junior teams in competitive leagues, at the Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 age groups. There is also a girls team (see below for more information). Competitive cricket is available from Under 11 to Under 15 in the NYACC cricket leagues, and at Under 17 age in the NYSD Junior League. As well as this, the club runs an Under 13 team in the Darlington and District League, allowing more cricketers from the Under 13 and occasionally Under 11 age groups to experience organised matches.
The junior section has been successful in recent years, both in terms of competition victories, and in terms of providing juniors with the opportunity to play match cricket.
Our club is leading the way with girls' cricket, and this was shown when they, representing Richmond School, won the Lady Taverners U15 competition in a final held at Lords.
The club is grateful to John Broderick and Print Demon Systems for their generous sponsorship of the junior section.
